Sperm Whale Wisdom
Finding Peace in a Chaotic Year
The global pandemic and subsequent quarantines and shelter in place orders have drastically increased the time I spend with my family. Instead of just me and the dogs at home alone all day, now my two teenagers and my husband are home 24/7, too.
In some ways, this has been totally awesome.
Sometimes, though, it is hard to find my peace and balance and equanimity. As an introvert, I usually find peace in my alone time and there just isn’t that much of that around anymore!
Sperm Whale to the rescue!
Going Within
Sperm Whale reminds us to tune into our own bodies to return to the present moment. Then we can find peace, equanimity, and balance.
This week, I am taking SPERM WHALE’s message to heart and I am slowing down and monitoring my body in order to really be present in the present moment.
This will make more sense after you watch the video on my blog this week!

Now It’s Your Turn

I love all whales but am especially connected with Humpback Whales. I’ve taken 10 private groups to have snorkeling encounters with them in the Silver Bank as a spiritual retreat. A powerful teaching from them is how to dive deep and go within. When a Humpback dives, his very wide tail fluke leaves a perfectly round spot on the surface of the water that is called the “calm spot”. It is quite remarkable as there is the ocean waters rippling and moving around this almost protected round spot of perfectly calm, smooth water left by the tail fluke. It is a visible for how to be the “calm” in the eye of the storm, how to be surrounded by the constant movement and often chaotic flow of life and yet….you can create your very own personal “calm spot”. I have several photos of this calm spot that I use as a visual when I need a reminder in the midst of my own personal storm. Especially in this moment of instability and chaos in our world.

I love the visual reminder of the “calm spot,” Gayle! Thank you!
